Volunteers wait in line at the Riverfest volunteer check-in on Saturday morning.
Riverfest 2013 started Friday with a long line of people waiting for the gates to open.
We talked to Kelly Bass who said that on the opening day this year, they had 78,000 people attend. That's up 8,000 people from last year. One media volunteer described the first day this way, "It was like a Sunday night fireworks crowd." They are expecting a quarter of a million people to attend over the three-day weekend.
Saturday morning started with bands tuning up and Riverfest volunteers making sure everything was ready for when the gates opened earlier this morning. The Riverfest has lots of food, music, vendors, children's activities and even a dog show.
Riverfest is a family event that will go through tomorrow night.
