A local dealer zooms by on a nice used boat.
We stopped a local dealer to talk to them about the boat market. They told us that the market is really soft and that there barley hanging on. The person we talked to said they are trying to make up the loss in maintenance but that is not even enough. We asked him what he thought the cause of the down turn is he told us " the economy." Even new sales are down most dealers make about 6% when they sale a boat to a new happy boat owner. That 6% can turn into around a thousand to three thousand on small crafts. When you throw in over head and taxes you lose most if not all of that 6%. Arkansas requires boaters born after 1985 Boating Education Card. We Sent our own David.L through the course awhile back. David passed with flying colors and said " its well worth it." Now he is in the market for a used house boat.
