A runner runs past photographers at the American Heart Association Walk in Burns Park in North Little Rock this morning. This event was one of three events in which there were over 3,000 participants and well over 200 volunteers. Lloyd Webre, Heart Walk Director, said, " This is a celebration of what our participants have done all year to raise funds. It is also a celebration of those who have survived and a solemn remembrance for others." This was the 26th year and over $350,000 was raised this year. The other two events were Cardiac Classic Bike Ride and Hearts on Wheels.
The funds will be used for research, outreach programs and advocacy to encourage policy that is for better health for Arkansans, according to Webre.
